Noticing details

In lately I started to notice (and take pictures of) a lot of details in a world around me that I never ever really took notice of. Like suddenly dawned on me that world is full of small and beautiful things that deserve to be discovered and admired.

Like this little flowers, I don't know their name, but I do know they smell very nice:

Or polka dot paper boat (made just for fun):

Turning a drawing into a repeated pattern

I found this tutorial How to turn a drawing into a repeated pattern by Julia Rothman on Design*Sponge (via bits and bobbins) and I couldn't resist to try it.
So I drew some flowery shapes and followed the tutorial instructions and here is the result:

Sunday, Lazy Sunday

I spent a very laid back Sunday afternoon. I thought it would be fun to start posting pictures of my outfits to wardrobe_remix, a fashion group on Flickr, so I asked M. to take a couple a pictures of me:

After that we went to friend's house to have a cup of coffee and played with her super fun dog.

And guess what? I took more pictures of flowers :)

Stream of consciousness

My stream of consciousness, in images ( click to enlarge):

...and in words:
from left to right:

catch a star/ light your own fire/ new ideas waiting on a tip of my brush/ but I've always preferred photography/ over art/ once I tried to be a writer but words didn't come out right

making decisions was never easy/ for me/ sometimes I'm too pale/ and don't feel comfortable even in my favorite jeans/ so emo / so dramatic

maybe I need to look into my shadow/ or just go on a coffee break/ tidy up my messy space/ or count drops of water/ in my steamy bathroom/ «you can't be this indecisive»

he says/ yo/ read my lips/ a kiss/ and a hug/ I'm over and out.

Quotes

Some of my favorite artist quotes:

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
Scott Adams

I think a single sentence by Van Gogh is better than the whole work of all the art critics and art historians put together.
John Olsen

I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me that makes photography more exciting.
Harry Callahan

My name is Marc, my emotional life is sensitive and my purse is empty, but they say I have talent.
Marc Chagall

I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.
Frida Kahlo

Art to me is a humanitarian act and I believe that there is a responsibility that art should somehow be able to effect mankind, to make the world a better place.

I'm always trying to create work that doesn't make viewers feel they're being spoken down to, so that they feel open participation.
Jeff Koons

Thing about animation is there are people who associate it with being a visual art. I've actually always thought of animation as more closely related to performing arts. So many of the same rules of acting apply. In a lot of cases you don't have to be a terrific artist.
Seth MacFarlane

I've always loved drawings... When you draw you look much more intensely at something.
Henry Moore

No photographer is as good as the simplest camera.
Edward Steichen

My mother said to me, "If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk , you will become the Pope." Instead I was a painter and became Picasso.
Pablo Picasso

Sparrow cards

Yesterday I saw this little sparrow playing in a poodle.

It inspired me to make these cards that were later given to a friend as a present.

Enjoying Spring

I had a very busy day yesterday but still managed to go for a walk and enjoy nice weather.

And it seems my obsession with taking pictures of dandelion continues, for some unknown reason :)

I also had the most delicious and refreshing grapefruit ever! Here it is half-eaten and documented:
